WHY A LIFE APPLICATION BIBLE SEMINAR?

From time to time we are asked this question, "Wouldn't it be easier just to distribute the bibles?"

This seminar is an outgrowth of our experience in the mission field with the Life Application Bible. We realized we couldn't just give out Life Application Bibles to people who didn't know how to use the tools and features contained in it.

There is a need for the seminar because

1. Many of the pastors and teachers we minister to only had a 5th or 6th grade level education

2. Many were unfamiliar with how to use a dictionary and therefore would have difficulty using the Four Major Indexes in the Life Application Bible

3. A majority had never used a bible with Scripture cross-references and didn't understand what they were or how to use them

4. A significant number didn't understand that a personality profile in the Life Application Bible was an overview of the life of a person in the bible

5. Generally speaking most didn't understand the terms used to describe the features in the Life Application Bible. We had to define and explain the terms like Megatheme, Timeline, etc.

My name is Jim Moffett. My wife, Patti, and I have known the Lord in a personal way since 1975 and have been involved in missionary outreach and evangelism since 1980.

To make this possible we have developed the Life Application Bible Seminar, an interactive seminar designed to help participants to locate, identify, understand and use the many features contained in the Life Application Bible. This is accomplished through teaching, sharing, testimony and exercises. Seminar participants

1. Learn through hands on experience about the various indexes and research tools found within

2. Explore study materials that reveal some characteristics of people in the Bible as well as their strengths and weaknesses

3. Become familiar with specific charts and footnotes that are of tremendous value in personally applying Bible truths in everyday life

4. Discover how to use the different features to prepare sermons, enliven Bible study and enrich the spiritual lives of their congregations
